As a physics student, I was very dizzy at the beginning of the large amount of information on the Internet. There are many types of telescopes, and the principles of light paths are different. It can be said that different types of telescopes have their own characteristics. Below, I will give some suggestions on the essential principles to the enthusiasts who are new to astronomical telescopes.
1. Refractors in astronomical telescopes are generally Kepler-type. The inverted image has no effect on astronomical observations. After all, there is no upper and lower division in outer space. The larger the field of view of the same magnification, the better. The cost of the refractor is mainly in the main lens. It is not only a convex lens, but a composite lens composed of multiple convex and concave lenses. The purpose is to eliminate the chromatic aberration caused by the chromatic dispersion phenomenon. The cost of this composite lens is not high compared to the multi-lens returned, so the price is moderate. But cheap mirrors still have obvious chromatic aberration. Refractor has a big disadvantage, that is, the lens barrel is too long, and the focal length of 1000 (mm) must be more than 1m. It is not suitable for carrying, and it is a good choice to put it at home. If you are in an area where light pollution is relatively weak, you can buy a better refractor and store it.
2. Reflectors We like to call them Niu Anti. It was invented by Newton. Newton is really great. Mechanics and optics are also great. The cow reflection structure looks very simple, reflecting the main mirror + reflecting the secondary mirror, because the light is not refracted, so there is no chromatic aberration, but aberration (deformation) occurs. Niu Fan has a simple structure and low cost of lens construction, so the price is low, and it can pursue a larger diameter (diameter) with less capital. Aperture is a very important parameter for astronomical telescopes. In short, the larger the aperture, the stronger the light-gathering ability, which can capture farther and fainter targets (beautiful nebulae, galaxies). In addition, its weight is relatively light in the same caliber.
3. The foldback telescope is a later improved model. There are two types: Maca and Shika, with similar principles. The advantages of the reentrant type can be seen from the picture-short. He combines the two principles of refraction and reflection, and it can be made very short under the same focal length. In addition, it solves the chromatic aberration of the foldback and the aberration of the cow reflection. Of course, it is solved by adding a correction lens, so the price is definitely higher. The price of the same caliber is more than double that of NiuFan. The reentrant focal lengths are relatively long and are relatively more suitable for celestial bodies in the solar system, but the high-priced Shika can be said to be omnipotent, and planets and nebulae cannot escape its eyes.
For beginners, the 150mm caliber Niubi is a good choice. Both planetary and deep space are considered larger. If you want to shoot deep sky celestial objects, you must have electricity. I hope my article is helpful to those who want to get started.
